Daniel died on 17 October 1844 at Marlboro, South Carolina, United States.1 His body was buried in October 1844 at Beauty Spot Cemetery, Marlboro, South Carolina, United States.

Biography of Daniel Caulk:
The parentage of Daniel Caulk is not known at this time. He most likely was born in South Carolina as his son, James Joseph and his daughter, Cynthia Ann both indicated their father's place of birth as South Carolina in the 1880 Madison County Florida Census. The earliest records indicate Daniel first bought land in Marlboro District, South Carolina on 2 Oct 1817. He sold this land (75 acres and a house) to his son James for $400 on 23 Sep 1844 (one month prior to his death). [Marlboro County South Carolina Deed Book Q, page 309] There is a Daniel CORK family listed in the 1820 Census of Marlboro District South Carolina that is very likely the family of Daniel Caulk.

Daniel's son Thomas indicated on the 1860 Marlboro County, South Carolina Census that he was born in South Carolina circa 1810. No other earlier records on the individuals in this family have been found.

Daniel died 17 Oct 1844 intestate. His estate papers [Office of Probate Judge, Marlboro County, South Carolina, Apartment 26, Package 4 1844] indicate T. CAULK was estate adminstrator and indicates James CAULK bought a shotgun for $3.00 from the estate. A Luther CAULK and Matilda CAULK are also listed among the purchasers at the estate sale.

Daniel is buried in a well marked grave in Beauty Spot Cemetery located 2 miles northeast of Bennettsville, Marlboro County, South Carolina on Highway 15, next to to his wife Clara. His grave is marked Died Oct 17, 1844, Age 60 years.

The maiden name of Clara is not known at this time. Her son James Joseph indicated on the 1880 Madison County Florida Census that his mother was born in South Carolina, while in that same census her daughter Cynthia Ann indicated she was born in North Carolina. She is buried next to her husband in a well marked grave in Beauty Spot Cemetery 2 miles northeast of Bennettsville, South Carolina on Highway 15. Her grave is marked Clara Caulk, Died Oct 6, 1843, age 60 years.

John Sullivan

John Sullivan came to Florida 15 Jan 1845. He served in the Conferate Army, enlisting at Old Troy in March 1864 in Capt. Poore's Co., later Capt. Lewis Moseley's Co.. Discharged at Moseley's Mill in Lafayette Co. Apr. 1865. He applied for a pension (#19334) from the State of Florida which was denied. He died before pension cleared at age 93.
