Solomon Sullivan served as a private in the Florida Volunteers during the Florida Seminole Wars of 1857. He enlisted 17 Feb 1857 in Capt. Issac Carter's Company at Ft. Brooke, Tampa, Florida. He was discharged 16 Aug 1857 at Ft. Brooke and re-enlisted for another six months on 20 Aug 1857 in Capt. Carter's company being discharged 18 Feb 1858. For this service he received a pension in 1903 until his death in 1920. He was described as being 5 ft. 8 in. tall, weigh about 125 pounds, had blue eyes, light colored hair, and light complexion.
