He married Mary Frances Oliver, daughter of James Oliver and Rebecca Forgay.¹ James died on 22 September 1891 at Montgomery, Mississippi, United States, at age 41. His body was buried at Poplar Springs Cemetery, Montgomery, Mississippi, United States.
