     Biography of James William Rutherford:

James William or JW worked for the Sheriff's Dept. of Madison Co. for many years.

He was one of the nicest men and we were blessed to have him in the family. JW had very good common sense, excellent moral values and family was most important to him. He didn't interfere but when asked, he would give his opinion and it was always worth listening to and following.

He was truthful, reliable, a great father and marvelous Uncle to Melissa. She loved her Uncle J and he always called her "Sam" to get her going. At first, she'd plant her feet apart, hands on hip, look him in the eye and say "My name is Melissa"! She loved to sit with him and chat away. He even took a "mug shot" of Melissa at the jail and made her a prisoner ID card. [By Jean Merritt]
