     Biography of Julius Halter:

Below is the theTranslation of Marriage Record between Julian Halter and Karolina Radzka from the Szymanow Parish Church Records

No. 21
Germanow

Compiled in Szymanow on 14/26 April, 1891, at 4:00 PM. We declare that in the presence of witnesses Jozef Seczka, 30, and Ludwik Konarski, 40, both day laborers from Germanow, that concluded today in Germanow was the religious marital union of JULIAN HALTER, single, born and residing in
Germanow, son of the legal marriage of Jozef and the deceased Teresia nee Winerow Halter, and KAROLINA RADZKA, 24, born and residing in Hermanow, daughter of Jozef and Cecelia nee Szymanska Razdka. The thrice-proclaimed Banns of Marriage were published in the Szymanow Roman Catholic Church on 31 March/12 April, 7/19, and 14/26 April of this year. The newlyweds declare that no prenuptial agreement was concluded. The marriage ceremony was conducted by the undersigned priest. Because the declarants and witnesses could not read, this act was signed only by me. Fr. Ant. Braulinski, Administrator. (Note: This record is in Polish using Russian Cyrlic Script. The translation to English of Germanow is probably for Hermandorf which is what the predominately German population called the town during the period before partition ended. The town is now called Szymanow in Polish.)

Julius Halter arrived in New York aboard the ship Kaiser Augsute Victoria on 18 July 1910. He is listed as born in Russia of Polish ethnicitl from hermantze, having $13 in his possession and listed his final distination at Cleveland, Ohio. He listed his wife, Carolina Halter from Hermanov as nearest relative. His daughter, Sabina, age 16 is also listed on the passenger list with him suggesting he came only with his daughter, leaving his wife and other children in Poland. Based on the age of Sabina it is clear that this is his eldest daughter, whom we know as Helen Halter (1894-1990). Julius immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio arriving on 17 June 1910 at New York, New York, United States.2
