He married Jennie Leon Kimble, daughter of Solomon Kimble and Margaret “Maggie” Stephenson, on 4 September 1920 at Hamilton, Ohio, United States.¹ He died on 6 May 1956 at Charleston, Kanawha, West Virginia, United States, at age 75.

     Margaret Hanford was born on 8 April 1924 at Smithers, Fayette, West Virginia, United States. She was the daughter of Carl Henry Hanford and Jennie Leon Kimble. She died on 27 October 2004 at age 80.

     Ida Whittington was born on 21 January 1890 at Mason, West Virginia, United States. She married Harry Kimble, son of Solomon Kimble and Margaret “Maggie” Stephenson, in 1926 at Kanawha, West Virginia, United States.      Solomon Kimble was born in 1809 at Ohio, United States. He was the son of John Kimble. He married Mary Yates on 18 February 1829 at Hocking, Ohio, United States.¹ He died on 25 August 1878 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.
     Biography of Solomon Kimble:
The earliest record we have found on Solomon Kimble is his marriage to Mary Yates in 1829. That record shows that John Kimble had given his consent for that marriage. This suggests that John is the father of Solomon as it was the practice at the time that the father or brother of the groom gave consent.

Census records show Solomon and wife (Mary) and child (George) were living in Fairfield County Ohio in 1830. About 1833 he removed to Lawrence County, Ohio with several members of the Yates family, no doubt seeking better opportunities. On 5 August 1837 he purchased two 40 acre tracts of forested land in Washington Township. These tracts are about 20 miles north of Ironton, Ohio just off of present day Ohio route 93. The 40 acre tract in section 35 appears to be where he moved his family, cleared several acres of land and built the Kimble household where he was to live for the next 50 years. The creek that runs thru the property is named Kimble Creek and the short road off of route 93 which ends at the farm is call Kimble Creek Road. The 40 acre tract in Section 34 borders the site of Olive Furnace. Olive Furnace was built in 1846 and ran until about 1915, making 16 tons per day of iron castings. The ruins are still there and in 2007 it was declared a National Historical Site. The ore in the area is 30-40 percent iron, which is low grade by today’s standards, but was high enough at the time to create dozens of furnaces and an iron and steel industry in the area. Solomon was a farmer all his life. However his sons, all worked as Iron Miners, mining the ore to feed Olive Furnace as well as the other furnaces in the area. Solomon and Mary had at least twelve children from 1829 to 1855. Solomon passed away 25 August 1878 at his home. He left a simple will leaving his estate to his wife.

     Mary Yates was born in 1810 at Ohio, United States. She married Solomon Kimble, son of John Kimble, on 18 February 1829 at Hocking, Ohio, United States.¹

     John Kimble was born circa 1785. He died circa 1834 at Hocking, Ohio, United States.
     Biography of John Kimble:
This Kimble family first established itself as pioneer farmer/settlers near the town in Lancaster, Ohio in the very early 1800’s. The Northwest Territory was acquired from the British at the end of the Revolutionary War in 1787. The State of Ohio was formed 1803 and the village of Lancaster in Fairfield County was founded in 1805. We know from early Fairfield tax records that a John Kimble, William Kimble and Elijah Kimble had owned land in Fairfield County before 1812 as their names appeared as previous owners of land the current owner was paying taxes on. We surmise that the Kimble’s came into the county in the early 1800’s. Based on census and tax records we estimate that John was born about 1765 and died in Hocking County about 1734. Much work needs to be done to sort out these early Kimble’s and establish their relationship to each other, as well as their relationship to the many Kimble’s that appear in later records.

     Joseph Kimble was born in 1853 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ He was the son of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy. He married Elizabeth Rayburn on 8 October 1874 at Lawrence, Ohio, United States.²

     Mary Jane Kimble was born in 1855 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ She was the daughter of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy.

     Julia Ann Kimble was born in 1859 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ She was the daughter of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy. She married Charles Kyser on 27 April 1876 at Lawrence, Ohio, United States.²

     Martha Kimble was born on 10 February 1872 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ She was the daughter of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy. She died on 5 March 1919 at Portsmouth, Scioto, Ohio, United States, at age 47.² She was buried on 7 March 1919 at Portsmouth, Scioto, Ohio, United States.³

     Seymour Kimble was born in 1869 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ He was the son of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy.

     William Lewis Kimble was born on 31 March 1857 at Washington Township, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ He was the son of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy. He married Mary A Betts on 24 December 1879 at Jackson, Ohio, United States. He died on 6 May 1944 at Dearborn, Wayne, Michigan, United States, at age 87.

He married Anna 'Annie' Edwards on 8 March 1896 at Fayette, West Virginia, United States.¹ He died on 9 July 1935 at Fayette, West Virginia, United States, at age 63.²

     Lizzie Kimbell was born on 2 September 1877 at Decatur, Lawrence, Ohio, United States.¹ She was the daughter of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy. She died circa 1970 at Chillicothe, Ross, Ohio, United States.

     Mary A Betts was born on 13 April 1863 at Oak Hill, Jackson, Ohio, United States. She married William Lewis Kimble, son of George W. Kimble and Elizabeth Bandy, on 24 December 1879 at Jackson, Ohio, United States. She died on 13 November 1944 at Wayne, Michigan, United States, at age 81.

     William Edward Kimble was born on 5 August 1887 at Madison Township, Jackson, Ohio, United States. He was the son of William Lewis Kimble and Mary A Betts. He died on 19 September 1977 at Springfield, Clark, Ohio, United States, at age 90.

     Daniel Kimble was born on 5 May 1885 at Madison Township, Jackson, Ohio, United States. He was the son of William Lewis Kimble and Mary A Betts.

     Charles Kimble was born in August 1890 at Ohio, United States. He was the son of William Lewis Kimble and Mary A Betts.

     Elizabeth Kimble was born on 11 February 1883 at Madison Township, Jackson, Ohio, United States. She was the daughter of William Lewis Kimble and Mary A Betts. She died on 24 July 1924 at Eloise, Wayne, Michigan, United States, at age 41. She was buried in 1924 at Wayne, Michigan, United States.

     Pearl Clara Kimble was born on 3 April 1881 at Scioto, Ohio, United States. She was the daughter of William Lewis Kimble and Mary A Betts. She died on 19 February 1922 at Dover Township, Athens, Ohio, United States, at age 40. She was buried on 22 February 1922 at Nelsonville, Athens, Ohio, United States.
