Vitek Buřval1

M, b. circa 1550, d. circa 1593
Vitek Buřval was born circa 1550 at Trhonice, Polička, Bohemia, Austria.1 He was the son of Vašek Buřval. Vitek Buřval died circa 1593 at Trhonice, Polička, Bohemia, Austria.1
     Vitek's occupation: Farmer.
Biography of Vitek Buřval:
The name Vitek Buřval (also known as Vítek of Trhonice) of this biography is based on a 1575 declaration of inheritance and ownership found in the 1575 Town of Policá Land Books. This suggests that in 1575 the village of Trhonice was under the ownership of the Bohemian Lords of the Estate of Policá and not in Moravian Lands as it is today. This also suggests that the orignal Burval family in this area were of Bohemian origin rather than Moravian.

Based on the 1575 declaratrion, Vítek Buřval appears to have inherited title ownership of his fathers farm in Trhonice. The farm was worth 200 kopecs and the declaration indicates that Vítek Vašků must pay first his brother Burian, 4 kopecs a year until Burian’s 26 kopec share of the farm is paid and then pay Markétě, (presumably his sister) 4 kopecs a year until her 26 kopec share of the farm is paid in full. This same record shows that each year Vitek paid 4 kopecs to Burian and Markétě until 1589 when ownership passed fully to Vítek. The payment in the summer of 1583 shows that Jan of Bystřice recieved 2 kopecs that was due his wife, Markétě. This suggests that Markétě had married a Jan of Bystřice in about 1583.

The next record of this family from the Polica Land Books is a 1593 declaration of inheritance and ownership found in the Policá Land Books. Based on this 1593 declaration it appears that Vítek Buřval has died leaving orphan children, Jan, Anna and Peter.

Vašek Buřval was born circa 1525 at Trhonice, Polička, Bohemia, Austria.2 He died circa 1575 at Trhonice, Polička, Bohemia, Austria.3
     Biography of Vašek Buřval:
The name Vašek Buřval (known as Vašek of Trhonice) of this biography is based on the earliest record of our Burval Ancestors we are aware of. The record is a 1575 Declaration of inheritance and land title found in the Town of Policá Land Books. The 1575 Declaration shows Vítek of Trhonice inherited title to a farm in Trhonice from his father, Vašek.

Vašek Buřval was likely born about 1525 in Trhonice and died there about 1575 based on the date of the declaration.

We will show under the biography of Jan Buřval (1575- ) that Jan Buřval (1575- ) is the grandson of Vašek Buřval (aka Vašek of Trhonice) and son of Vitek Buřval (aka Vítek of Trhonice) and the first to bear the Buřval surname when surnames came into use in the early 1600’s. Vašek's occupation: Farmer.
