Biography of (Son) Townsend:

Townsend in the 1850 census of Marlboro County, South Carolina are Benjamin’s grandsons. These same two males are enumerated in the 1840 Marlboro County census of Benjamin’s household with a male age 20 to 30. We believe this male is Benjamin’s unknown son, born about 1815, who is enumerated in the 1820 and 1830 Marlboro Censuses in the Benjamin Townsend households. It appears this son died before 1850, leaving his sons in the care of their grandfather.
