     Reuben Hillard Sample was the son of Washington Sample and Mary Fanny Miller. He married Lora Alice Wood on 23 February 1916 at Morgan, Illinois, United States. He died on 27 January 1973 at Madison, Illinois, United States, at age 78. He was buried at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery, Godfrey, Madison, Illinois, United States.

Owned and operated the Sample Grocery Store in Otterville, Jersey County, Illinois, for 22 years, retiring in 1958.

Medical Certificate of Death No. 4016 issued in Madison County, Illinois, January 29, 1973, gives date of death as January 27, 1973, birthdate as November 13, 1894, and parents were Washington Sample and Mary Miller. Copy in the possession of Robert W. Ridenour.¹

     Margaret Leona Sample was the daughter of Washington Sample and Mary Fanny Miller. She married Arthur Mellor. She married an unknown person. She died on 12 January 1970 at Greene, Illinois, United States, at age 69. She was buried at Murrayville Cemetery, Murrayville, Morgan, Illinois, United States.

     Virgil Edwards married Nancy Estelle Sample, daughter of Washington Sample and Mary Fanny Miller.
