Francis Joseph Musil Inducted on Thanksgiving Day November 1943. Served in Fargot Idaho, More Island California, Treasure Island, California, Brooklyn, New York, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Norfolk, Virgina, San Diego, California. On the trip to Japan, they got word that World War II was over. Then, his ship went through one of the worst tidal waves that ever hit Japan history. They had to be tied to their bunks so they would not get hurt. The water was so high it went over the boat. They stayed in Japan for 11 months before he went to Hawaii for 1 week. Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy on May 21-1946. Francis was a Water Tender First Class USN I. He served on the USS Furse and USS Prairie.

Francis J Musil
Funeral service for Francis J Musil, age 75, of O'Neill, were held at St Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill on Monday, July 3, 2000. Rev Mark Filips officiated. Music was provided by St Patrick's Choir and accompanied by organist Nancy Grady. Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery with military rites by the O'Neill American Legion. Pallbears were grandsons Nick Harpster, Doug Harpster, Benjy Musil, Adam Musil, Jason Musil, and Matt Musil. Biglin's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Francis Joseph Musil was born at home near O'Neill on September 27, 1924, the oldest child of Frank M and Anna Caroline Burival Musil. He attended a county school near his home and worked on the family farm. During World War II, he was drafted in the Navy and traveled to Japan at the end of the war. While stationed in California, he met Claire Smith. They were married in O'Neill on April 8, 1947. Francis was a farmer/rancher in Holt County for many years and then was in the netal building construction and metal salvage business before retiring in 1997. Francis was an avid card player and stock car racing fan. He passed away Friday, June 30, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. Survivors include his wife Claire; five daughters and three sons and their spouses, Anna Simpson of Norfolk, Phyllis and Terry Harpster of Ewing, Francis C Musil of Phoenix, Arizona, Bob and Mariclaire Musil of O'Neill, Kathy and Bill Barram of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ken and Lorie Musil of O'Neill, Barb and Mel Moore of Lincoln, and Chris and Todd Miller of O'Neill; 23 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Musil of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Mary Alice Schmit and Helen Heese of O'Neill. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.¹

She married Leroy Joseph Dobrovolny on 3 June 1947 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, O'Neill, Holt, Nebraska, United States.¹ She died on 5 November 1967 at Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska, United States, at age 41.¹ She was buried on 7 November 1967 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Atkinson, Holt, Nebraska, United States.¹

     Joseph Francis Musil was born on 19 June 1927 at O'Neill, Holt, Nebraska, United States.¹ He was the son of Frank Marcellus Musil and Anna Caroline Burival.
