George Stanley Kelsey was graduated from Sebring High School and then earned a bachelors degree in electrical engineering in 1953 from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha social fraternity. After working as an engineer in the utility and defense industries, he earned a masters degree in education in 1970 from the University of Florida in Gainesville. After teaching electrical engineering at the junior college level, he retired to Houston, Texas, the seat of Harris County, where he devoted his time to studying the genetic characteristics of canaries and finches, which he bred and raised.1
