THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE - March 19, 1942 - ASA DUGGAN LORD CLAIMED BY DEATH - Asa Duggan Lord, 70, died at the residence of his son, Oscar Lord, 1465 Cooper Street, last night at 6 o'clock following an extended illness. Funeral arrangements had not been completed last night. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary Radney Lord; three sons, Horace Lord, Sandersville Ga., and Oscar and Marvin Lord, both of Augusta; four daughters, Mrs. C. E. Joyner, Mrs. G. A. Lord, and Misses Mildred and Alma Lord, all of Augusta; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jesse Lord, Dublin, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. Born in Washington county, Ga., Mr. Lord had resided for the past year in Augusta after retiring as a farmer. He was a member of the Tabernacle Methodist Church.

LORD RITES TO BE HELD TODAY - Funeral services for Asa Duggan Lord, 70 years of age, who died here Wednesday, will be conducted at the Sandersville Methodist Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in the Brownwood cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary Radney Lord; three sons, Horace Lord, Sandersville; and Oscar and Marvin Lord, both of Augusta; for daughters, Mrs. C.E. Joyner, Mrs. G.A. Lord, Miss Mildred Lord and Miss Alma Lord, all of Augusta; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jesse Lord of Dublin, Ga. Mr. Lord, a native of Washington county, Ga., had lived in Augusta for one year. He made his home at 1456 Cooper Street.

WORLD WAR 1 Draft Registration Card C - (12 September 1918) - Asa registrated with the Draft September 12, 1918, he was 33 years old, his present occupation was Farmer, he was of medium height and slender build, had brown eyes and dark hair. This came from a copy of his draft card.

BERTHA LORD WRIGHT - Sandersville - Services for Bertha Lord Wright will be at 2p.m. today in Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Wright, 81, died Wednesday. She was the operator of Wright Grocery and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Talmadge Wright; children, Tommy Wright of Tennille, and Billy Wright of Sandersville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. E.K. May Funeral Home in Tennille has charge of arrangements.1

Fred Lamar Lord

     Fred Lamar Lord was born on 24 February 1938 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1 He was the son of Herman Horace Lord and Sarah Helen Brett. He married Julia Lou Brett Trussell.1 He died on 6 June 2004 at Emanuel, Georgia, United States, at age 66; Congestive Heart Failure.1 He was buried on 9 June 2004 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1
     Biography of Fred Lamar Lord:
Sandersville Progress - MR. FRED LAMAR LORD - Mr. Fred Lamar Lord, 66, of Bartow died Sunday, June 6, 2004 in Emanuel County Hospital following an extended illness.
Services were held Wednesday, June 9, in Sisters Baptist Church in Sandersville. Burial was in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. The Rev. William E. Brown and the Rev. Jerry Eiland officiated.
Pallbearers were Randy Newsome, Henry Sheppard, Joe Garrett, Wade Brown, Doug Watkins, Adrian Ashley, Mark Jones, and Billy Wright. Honorary pallbearers were from United Hospice of Swainsboro.
Mr. Lord was a native of Washington County, son of the late Herman Horace Lord. He started with Georgia Kaolin Company in 1975 as an export sales manager and retired as a manager in Savannah. He sreved in the National Guard for nine years. Mr. Lord was a member of the Bartow Baptist Church and the Hamilton Masconic Lodge # 58 F&AM. He has resided in Bartow for the past 17 months.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Aldred Lord of Bartow; daughter, Melissa Lord Strickland of Bainbridge; mother, Sarah Helen Lord of Sandersville; two brothers, Buford Lord and Lester Lord, both of Sandersville.
May and Smith Funeral Home were in charge of these arrangements.


Info from Joanna A. Lord - When Julia died, Fred was in the hospital, and was released under Hospice July 29, 2003. In a letter to me July 2004, Joanna stated " I Love Fred....He ALWAYS will be a GREAT MAN".1

Horace Duggan Lord

Janice Elaine Lord

     Janice Elaine Lord was born on 26 April 1950 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1 She was the daughter of Louie Homer Lord and Ruby Belle Martin. She died on 7 July 2005 at Milledgeville, Baldwin, Georgia, United States, at age 55.1 She was buried on 10 July 2005 at Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Baldwin, Georgia, United States.1
     Biography of Janice Elaine Lord:
Died at home at 8:55 p.m. under Hospice care. Her husband, both daughters, mother and sister were present at time of death. Died a peaceful death, the way she wanted.
Janice never had no major medical problems. Was a PAT patient. March 2, 1999 was found to have breast cancer in her left breast. March 8, 1999 had it removed in Macon, Ga. by Dr. Dale. March 7, 2002 found cancer was on skin of the other breast. She ended up with cancer on her skin of her chest, shoulders and back. The cancer went to her left lung and the base of her brain. Treatment of Chemo and radiation to the base of the brain caused a stroke March 22, 2005 that affected her left side. Because of this, Janice could not take anymore treatments.1

Louie Homer Lord

He married Ruby Belle Martin, daughter of George Washington Martin and Essie Gertrude Smith, on 23 July 1938 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1 He died on 5 November 1988 at Milledgeville, Baldwin, Georgia, United States, at age 77.1
     Biography of Louie Homer Lord:
Worked as night watchman at the Peach Packing Plant on Davisboro Hwy. between Davisboro and Sandersville, Ga. Went to work at Champion Paper & Fibre Co. on October 04, 1942 and from where he retired in 1965.

Louie and Belle were divorced March 01, 1965.

Louie was a hard worker as a child. He was quiet and did not like to be messed with. Good person. Herman and Louie were working putting up hay, when Herman ran over Louie's foot, Louie jumped onto Herman like a wasp. They were tied up in a fight and had to be separated. ( Told by: Malcome Prosser)

Was patient in Talmadge Memorial Hospital in Augusta, Ga. about November 1966 for skin condition.

Information taken from State Hospital History: Prior to 1960 the patient was in good health, he also led a good social life. He had been very sincere to his wife and children and he took interest in his work. He believes in the Baptist Religion. Louie could complete his studies up to the 6th grade after which he started working. Diagnosis: Depressive Reaction. Was dismissed March 30, 1967.

Louise Helen Lord

     Biography of Louise Helen Lord:
She is buried at Sisters Baptist Church in Sandersville, Ga. in the burial plot of Asa Duggan Lord. Louise never had a marker on her grave until about 1965, when a pink marble slab that came from Lexington Ga. was placed there by her mother Belle, her sister Mary Esther and James Smith. There's no writing on the slab.

The Sandersville Progress - April 24, 1947 - FUNERAL HELD FOR INFANT DAUGHTER - Funeral services for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Lord of Sandersville, who died Friday, April 18, were conducted at the graveside in Sisters Church cementery last Saturday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. H. C. Bentley. The infant is survived by one brother, Sandersville: paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Lord of Sandersville, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Martin of Milledgeville, Ga.1
