Maryann Missouri Tompkins (F) b. circa 1825 Pop-up Pedigree Relationship=Great-granddaughter of (Progenitor) Tompkins. Maryann was born circa 1825 in Washington Co., Georgia.1 She was the daughter of Rukin Tompkins and Rachel (--?--). She married Drury Lloyd, on 22 September 1849 in Washington Co., Georgia.1
Biography of Maryann Missouri Tompkins: Mrs. Morgan in her book "The Tompkins of Washington Co. Georgia" was uncertain as to who Maryann Tompkins belonged to as she stated that she "could be the daughter of Rukin or Burrell Tompkins" or even "the daughter of John Y. Tompkins". I have reviewed all the census data on Rukin and Burrell and found that Maryann most likely is the daughter of Rukin. That is based primarily on the fact that Burrell did not list any young daughters in the 1840 Census whereas Rukin listed two, one of which could be Maryann. Also there is no Maryann listed as a sister of John Young Tompkins in his Bible, whereas all his siblings are clearly listed. Since John Y. Tompkins is the son of Burrell, this is proof that Mary Ann is not the daughter of Burrell Tompkins. Also the daughter of John Y. Tompkins, Maran, married John Lamar in Marion Co. Georgia in 1853 and raised her family in that area, so could not be Mary Ann who married Drury Lloyd in Washington County, Georgia. Thus based on the above I show Maryann to be the daughter of Rukin.
