William J. Garrett

     Biography of William J. Garrett:
William served in the Civil War. He joined Co. G. 2nd Reg. Brigade of State Troopers on 11 Oct 1861. His unit served in 4th Corp. of the Army of Northern Virginia. He was discharged in April 1862 - went home and immediately reenlisted in Co. D, 57th Reg. of Army of Tennessee on 3 May 1862 as part of the re-organization of the CSA. Finally was placed in a Company of men from Wilkinson Co., Georgia men called "Stark Guards". On 16 May 1863 he lost an arm at Baker's Creek, Miss. - Discharged.
