Talmadge Wright

     Talmadge Wright was born on 22 September 1911.1 He was the son of Clifford Carter Wright Sr. and Katie Lou Shelton. He married Bertha Corine Lord, daughter of Horace Duggan Lord and Donie Esther Brooks, on 24 December 1934 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1 He died on 2 February 2001 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States, at age 89.1
     Biography of Talmadge Wright:
Worked his own farm. Retired after 59 years with Texaco Gasoline Co. Loved horses, showed Racking horses in saddle club shows for years.
MR. TALMADGE WRIGHT - Mr. Talmadge Wright, 89, of Sandersville died February 2, 2001 in the Washington Regional Medical Center.
Services were held February 4, 2001 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Tennille. Burial was in Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandersville. The Rev. Keith Yelverton officiated.
Pallbearers were Byron Carter, Richard Welch, Clarence Durden, Varnie Ellington, Billy May, Thomas Daniel, James May and Jerry Andrews.
Mr. Wright was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Clifford Carter Wright Sr. and the late Katie Lou Shelton Wright. He was the widower of the late Bertha Lord Wright and the father of the late C.H. Wright. Mr. Wright was a retired employee of Texaco Oil Company with 59 years of service and a farmer. He was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Wright of Tennille and Billy Wright of Sandersville; a brother, C.C. Wright of Sandersville; three sisters, Agnes Wieland of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mary Chambers of Columbus, and Kathryn Stephens of Belton, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, John Wright, Cliff Wright, Deborah W. Meeks, Sharon W. Smith, Greg Wright, Mike Wright, Ken Wright and Shirl W. Lindsey, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. May and Smith Funeral Directors in Tennille was in charge of the arrangements.


BARBECUE and FAMILY REUNION on SUNDAY: Sandersville Progress, October 26, 1961.
Fifty-five were present at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Wright on the Jordan Mill Road, on Sunday, Oct. 22 for a family gathering and barbecue dinner.

Wright, Jr., Jimmy, Rickey and Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Mills and Peggy; Mr. and Mrs. Jimm McConnell; Mr. and Mrs. John Whitaker; Mrs. Lncy Barwick; Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Litaker, Dianna and Dona; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lord, Rickey and Jene; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Freeman; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Lord, Janice and Mary Esther, Mr. and Mrs. David Chambers, Patricia and Vickie Lynn; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stephens, Howard, Hamp, Kathy, Glenn Jr., Carolyn and Nancy; Mrs. Ruby Hartley and Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Lord.

Fell in kitchen at home, in the Hospital discovered he had a bone marrow cancer, comman in people working with petrolleum products. Died at Washington Co. Hospital.1

     Tommy Asa Wright was born on 7 September 1935 at Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1 He was the son of Talmadge Wright and Bertha Corine Lord. He died on 19 February 2003 at University Hospital, Augusta, Richmond, Georgia, United States, at age 67.1
