Emmett Lester Prosser

     Emmett Lester Prosser was the son of Harvey Benion Prosser and Mattie Belle Brooks. He died in September 1944 at Washington, Georgia, United States.1
     Biography of Emmett Lester Prosser:
SANDERSVILLE PROGRESS - September 07, 1944 - LOADED GUN KILLS DAVISBORO BOY. Emmett Lester Prosser, age 15, was accidentally shot and killed as he and his brothers were playing with a shot gun at their home near Davisboro, Georgia. Funeral services were held Thurs. Sept. 07 at 11:00 from the Sister's Baptist Church, with the Rev. E.G. Orahood officiating, Interment was in the Sandersville cemetery.
Surviving besides his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey B. Prosser of Davisboro, Ga., are: two sisters Eunice Runette Prosser and Martha Luoise Prosser of Davisboro, four brothers, James Benion, Robert Alonza and Malcolm Prosser of Davisboro and Alton Prosser who is serving in the U.S. Army and is stationed at Camp Hood Texas, and several aunts and uncles and cousins.
Emmett was a member of the Sister's Baptist Church and had lived in this county all of his life. He attended the Sandersville School for several years.
The pall bearers were Roy Lord, Louie Lord, Herman Lord, Julian Prosser, Paul Prosser, Jack Brooks, Sam Prosser and Bryant Prosser. The Sandersville Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.1

SANDERSVILLE PROGRESS - November 22, 1951- HUBERT PROSSER FATALLY INJURIED IN AUTO ACCIDENT: Returning Home To Visit Relatives - Funeral services for T.Sgt. Hubert Prosser, age 34, were held yesterday, Wednesday, Nov. 28, from Sister's Baptist Church with an Army Chaplain of Warner Robins A.F.B. officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roy C. Matthews, pastor of Sisters Church.
Sgt. Prosser, who was stationed at Sheppard A.F.B. in Whichita Falls, Tex., was enroute home for a 10 - day furlough with his family before reporting to the p.o.e. in California for a 3 year assignment. Sgt. Prosser left Texas on Friday, Nov. 23, driving all night long for over 500 miles. He met his death when his car hit a bridge in Louisiana, three miles out from Rayeville and died from injuries received in the accident.
Sgt. Prosser was born in Washington County on October 20, 1917, the son of Mr. & Mrs. John Prosser. He attended Army seven Air Force school. He was a member of the Riddleville Baptist Church.
He was married on July 1, 1939 to the former Miss Addie Crawford. Survivors include his wife, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Prosser, three brothers, Julian, Melvin, and Willis Prosser, and one sister, Mrs. Howard Robinson.
Pall bearers were soldiers from Robin Air Force Base. Interment was in Brownwood Cemetery with Mayo Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.1

James Benion Prosser

MR. JAMES BENION PROSSER - Mr. James Benion Prosser, 80, of Davisboro died January 28, 2001 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Services were held January 30, 2001 in the Davisboro Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Yelverton and Rev. Thomas Roberson officiated. Burial was in Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandersville.
Pallbearers were Robert "Buddy" Prosser, Jimmy English, Steven Prosser, Walter Brantley: George Turk and Ronald Brett.
Mr. Prosser was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Harvey Benion Prosser and the late Mattie Bell Brooks Prosser. He was the retired owner of Prosser Grocery in Davisboro and a farmer. Mr. Prosser was an army veteran of World War 11 and a member of the Sisters Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Smith Prosser of Davisboro; a daughter, Mary Anne Prosser of Davisboro; a son, James Benion Prosser Jr. of Davisboro; a grandson, James Eugene Prosser of Davisboro; two great grandsons, James Tyler Prosser and William Kyle Prosser both of Davisboro; two sisters, Martha Barron of Homestead, Florida and Ruenett Robinson of Dublin, California; two brothers, Malcom Prosser and Alton Prosser both of Sandersville.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville was in charge of the arrangements.

Sandersville Progress - JOHN R. PROSSER BURIED SUNDAY - John R. Prosser, age 66 of Sandersville died on Saturday morning of a sudden illness at his home here.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 24 at 3:30 o'clock from Sisters Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Ayers, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.
Mr. Prosser was a member of Sisters Baptist Church, a retired farmer, a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was born December 25, 1893, the son of the late Alonza Prosser and the late Mrs. Mary Horton Prosser.
Survivors include his wife the former Miss Janie Brooks; one daughter, Mrs. Howard Robinson of Sandersville; three sons, Juilian of Milledgeville, Melvin of Gordon and Willis of Milledgeville. 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one brother, Owen Prosser of Statesboro; two sisters, Mrs. A. C. Johnson of Milledgeville and Mrs. Mary L. Horton of Sandersville, a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mayo Funeral Home of Sandersville was in charge of arrangements. Nephews were pallbearers.1

     Mary "Molly" Radney was born on 19 February 1873 at Baldwin, Georgia, United States. She married Asa Duggan Lord on 17 February 1889 at Washington, Georgia, United States.1 She died on 9 December 1945 at Augusta, Richmond, Georgia, United States, at age 72; Coronary Thrombosis.1 She was buried on 11 December 1945 at Brownwood Cemetery, Sandersville, Washington, Georgia, United States.1

The Sandersville Progress - December 13, 1945 - FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN AUGUSTA - Mrs. Asa Lord, a former resident of Washington County passed away Sunday in Augusta, where she had been residing with her children for the past five years. Mrs. Lord was 73 years old and had been ill for only a short time. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Sisters Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Roughton officiating. Interment was made in the Sandersville City Cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Lord are four daughters: Mrs. Eulie Joiner, Mrs. Guyton Lord, and the Misses Mildred and Alma Lord all of Augusta; three sons; Horace D. Lord of Sandersville and Marvin and Oscar Lord of Augusta, besides several nieces and nephews and twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Grandsons of the deceased act as pall beares.

Burial will be in Brownwood cemetery. Mrs. Lord is the widow of the late Asa Duggan Lord. She died at her residence at 916 Liberty Street. She had lived in Augusta for six years.
Survivors are three sons, Horace D. Lord, of Sandersville, Oscar Lord and Marvin Lord, both of Augusta; four daughters, Mrs. C.E. Joyner, Mrs. G.A. Lord, Miss Mildred Lord, and Miss Alma Lord, all of Augusta; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one brother, Gilbert Radney, of Deepstep, Ga.
The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 9 o'clock this morning.
